Let your AI agent find itPaste it into Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. It asks what happened, backs up first, and checks with you before changing any file.
Help me find my Elden Ring save folder on this PC, following findmysave's steps.

1. Read https://findmysave.com/elden-ring/save-location/steps.json. If you can't open URLs, use what's below.
2. Rules:
   - Start read-only: find my saves and list name, size and modified time.
   - Back up the whole save folder before changing anything.
   - Ask me before you delete, rename, move or overwrite any file (changes_files=true).
   - No anti-cheat files, no third-party tools unless I say yes.
   - Make sure the game is closed first.
3. Ask which of these happened, then do its steps in order and tell me how to check each one:
   - I can't find my Elden Ring save folder
   - Cannot find the save folder (AppData hidden; unsure if in Documents/OneDrive)
4. Save folder: %APPDATA%\EldenRing\<your Steam ID>\ Files: ER0000.sl2, ER0000.sl2.bak, ER0000.co2
5. If nothing works, stop and tell me. Remote help: https://findmysave.com/help/

Chat-only AIs work too: they walk you through it. Steps as JSON, each with a source: /elden-ring/save-location/steps.json

I can't find my Elden Ring save folder

Symptom

You don't know where the game keeps its save files.

  1. Press Win+R, paste %APPDATA%\EldenRing and press Enter.

  2. Open the folder named with a 17-digit number starting with 7656119 (for example 76561198012345678). That's your Steam ID. If there are several, open the most recently modified one.

  3. Look for the save file inside.

    Check: you can see ER0000.sl2.

Can't find it?

If Windows says it can't find the folder, the game hasn't saved on this PC yet, or you play another version (Game Pass, Epic, Steam Deck). Check the other paths on this page.

AppData is hidden and I'm not sure where the save is

Symptom

You can't find the save folder: AppData is hidden, and you wonder if the save is in Documents or OneDrive.

  1. Press Win+R and type %appdata%\EldenRing, or turn on Hidden items in File Explorer.

  2. Open the numeric Steam ID folder. ER0000.sl2 is inside.

    Check: you can see ER0000.sl2.

  3. Don't look in OneDrive first. It only holds a copy if it syncs your whole user folder; AppData is normally not included.

Other platforms

Windows
%APPDATA%\EldenRing\<your Steam ID>\
Steam
%APPDATA%\EldenRing\<your Steam ID>\ER0000.sl2

AppData\Roaming is hidden by default. Type %appdata%\EldenRing in the File Explorer address bar. Steam is the only PC store we found for this game; no WeGame or Epic version turned up.

Steam Deck / Linux (Proton)
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1245620/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/EldenRing/<your Steam ID>/ER0000.sl2

On Steam Deck the user folder shows as deckuser in some posts. If you add Seamless Co-op as a separate non-Steam shortcut, it gets its own compatdata ID. Removing that shortcut deletes that folder and the save inside.
