Let your AI agent do itPaste it into Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. It asks what happened, backs up first, and checks with you before changing any file.
Help me recover my Elden Ring save on this PC, following findmysave's steps.

1. Read https://findmysave.com/elden-ring/steps.json. If you can't open URLs, use what's below.
2. Rules:
   - Start read-only: find my saves and list name, size and modified time.
   - Back up the whole save folder before changing anything.
   - Ask me before you delete, rename, move or overwrite any file (changes_files=true).
   - No anti-cheat files, no third-party tools unless I say yes.
   - Make sure the game is closed first.
3. Ask which of these happened, then do its steps in order and tell me how to check each one:
   - I can't find my Elden Ring save folder
   - Cannot find the save folder (AppData hidden; unsure if in Documents/OneDrive)
   - Restore from the game's own backup copy
   - Overwrote progress by starting another ending / NG+ and wants the earlier point back
   - Seamless Co-op characters missing after reinstall or when launching vanilla
   - Steam Deck: Seamless Co-op added as a non-Steam shortcut, then removed or changed
   - 'Cloud Sync Conflict' dialog shows different cloud and local save times
   - Save corrupted after a crash during autosave
   - Save copied to another Steam account or PC with a different account will not load
4. Save folder: %APPDATA%\EldenRing\<your Steam ID>\ Files: ER0000.sl2, ER0000.sl2.bak, ER0000.co2
5. If nothing works, stop and tell me. Remote help: https://findmysave.com/help/

Chat-only AIs work too: they walk you through it. Steps as JSON, each with a source: /elden-ring/steps.json

What we couldn't confirm

  • Whether the game makes a new ER0000.sl2.bak on every save isn't documented. Players treat it as the previous save.
  • Whether Steam Cloud also syncs a corrupted save is a player suspicion, not confirmed.
  • Some players report a ban risk when moving a .co2 save into vanilla. This isn't confirmed.
  • Whether Bandai Namco's 2022 Steam Cloud bug is fully fixed today is unknown.
  • Third-party repair and transfer tools haven't been vetted. One tool was reported to have antivirus detections on VirusTotal. Use them at your own risk and back up first.
