Help me find my Stardew Valley save folder on this PC, following findmysave's steps.

1. Read https://findmysave.com/stardew-valley/save-location/steps.json. If you can't open URLs, use what's below.
2. Rules:
   - Start read-only: find my saves and list name, size and modified time.
   - Back up the whole save folder before changing anything.
   - Ask me before you delete, rename, move or overwrite any file (changes_files=true).
   - No anti-cheat files, no third-party tools unless I say yes.
   - Make sure the game is closed first.
3. Ask which of these happened, then do its steps in order and tell me how to check each one:
   - I can't find my Stardew Valley save folder
   - Cannot find AppData / Saves folder on Windows, Mac, Linux, or Steam Deck
4. Save folder: %APPDATA%\StardewValley\Saves\ Files: <FarmName>_<ID> folder (e.g. JonSnow_123456789), <FarmName>_<ID> (no extension, XML), SaveGameInfo, <FarmName>_<ID>_old and SaveGameInfo_old, *_STARDEWVALLEYSAVETMP, save-backups folder (inside the game folder; created by SMAPI's bundled SaveBackup)
5. If nothing works, stop and tell me. Remote help: https://findmysave.com/help/

Chat-only AIs work too: they walk you through it. Steps as JSON, each with a source: /stardew-valley/save-location/steps.json

Find your Stardew Valley save folder

Symptom

You don't know where the game keeps its save files.

  1. Press Win+R, paste %APPDATA%\StardewValley\Saves and press Enter.

  2. Look at the folders that opened.

Check: you see a folder named after your farm, like Farm_123456789.

Can't find it?

If Windows can't find the folder, the game hasn't saved on this PC yet, or you play another version (Game Pass, Epic, Steam Deck). Check the other paths on this page.

Find the Saves folder on Windows, Mac, Linux or Steam Deck

Symptom

You can't find the AppData or Saves folder.

  1. Windows: press Win+R, paste %appdata%\StardewValley\Saves, click OK.

  2. Mac: in Finder, choose Go, then Go to Folder, and enter ~/.config/StardewValley/Saves.

  3. Linux: open ~/.config/StardewValley/Saves. Flatpak Steam and Proton use different paths, listed above. On Steam Deck (Proton), open ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/413150/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/StardewValley/Saves.

  4. If you still can't see the folder, turn on "Hidden items" in File Explorer. Chinese player guides suggest this.

Other platforms

Windows
%APPDATA%\StardewValley\Saves\
Mac
~/.config/StardewValley/Saves/
Linux
~/.config/StardewValley/Saves/
Linux (other installs)
~/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.config/StardewValley/Saves (Steam flatpak); ~/.var/app/com.heroicgameslauncher.hgl/config/StardewValley/Saves/ (Heroic); ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/413150/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/StardewValley/Saves (Proton)

The default is ~/.config. If you use Flatpak Steam, Heroic or Proton, the save is in one of these other places.

Android
Android/data/com.chucklefish.stardewvalley/files/saves (v1.5+); StardewValley folder before 1.5

Each subfolder, like JonSnow_123456789, is one save slot. Android files end in .bin. Remove it when you copy to PC. If a PC save won't load on Android, you may need to add .bin. Some players report that saves are lost when you reinstall the game (v1.5+), so back up first.

iOS
Files app -> On My iPhone/iPad -> Stardew Valley folder

Open the Files app, then On My iPhone or iPad, then the Stardew Valley folder. On iOS 12 or earlier, use File Sharing in Finder or iTunes. The backup files are _SVBAK and _SVEMERG, not _old.
