Co-op world moved to a dedicated server: host character missing
Symptom
After you move a co-op world to a dedicated server, the host is asked to create a new character and the old one is missing.
Steps marked “changes files” delete, rename or overwrite something. Back up the whole save folder first.
Back up the save folder and stop the server.
Copy the co-op world folder from
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\<your Steam ID>toPalServer\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\0\. Then setDedicatedServerNameinGameUserSettings.inito that folder's name.Delete
WorldOption.savin that folder.changes filesStart the server. Have the host join and create a new character. This makes a new
<GUID>.savinPlayers/.Check: A new
.savfile appears inPlayers/. Note its name: that's the new GUID.Stop the server and copy the world folder to a temporary location. Run
palworld-host-save-fixon the copy with the new GUID and the old GUID00000000000000000000000000000001. It's a third-party tool, so use it at your own risk and only on a backed-up copy.Copy the fixed folder back, restart the server, and join as the host.changes files
Check: The host joins with the old character.
Guild and base Pals may glitch. If a Pal acts up, drop it and pick it up again. To avoid this, have the host leave the guild before you move the world.
Unverified: We haven't confirmed that palworld-host-save-fix still works with the latest game version. Its README shows no deprecation notice, but one hosting site says a similar tool is discontinued. Back up first.
