Help me fix a corrupted Monster Hunter Wilds save on this PC, following findmysave's steps.

1. Read https://findmysave.com/monster-hunter-wilds/corrupted-save/steps.json. If you can't open URLs, use what's below.
2. Rules:
   - Start read-only: find my saves and list name, size and modified time.
   - Back up the whole save folder before changing anything.
   - Ask me before you delete, rename, move or overwrite any file (changes_files=true).
   - No anti-cheat files, no third-party tools unless I say yes.
   - Make sure the game is closed first.
3. Ask which of these happened, then do its steps in order and tell me how to check each one:
   - Game crashes at loading (~80%) after selecting a character
   - Crash at 'Initializing Network' after a patch...
4. Save folder: <Steam folder>\userdata\<your Steam ID>\2246340\remote\win64_save Files: see steps.json
5. If nothing works, stop and tell me. Remote help: https://findmysave.com/help/

Chat-only AIs work too: they walk you through it. Steps as JSON, each with a source: /monster-hunter-wilds/corrupted-save/steps.json

Game crashes at about 80% loading after I pick my character

Symptom

The game crashes at about 80% loading after you select a character. A new character loads fine. Some players also see a "corrupted save" message.

  1. Close the game. Copy the userdata\<your Steam ID>\2246340 folder to somewhere else first.

Not sure where the save folder is?

  2. Open store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=2246340 and download the cloud copy. Steam Cloud keeps no history: you get the current cloud file, not an old version.

  3. Put it in the win64_save folder, with Steam Cloud turned on.

  4. This only works if that file is from before the corruption. For the player who posted this, verifying or reinstalling the game alone didn't help.

Check: The game loads your character past 80%.

Crash at "Initializing Network" after a patch

Symptom

The game crashes at "Initializing Network" after a patch. One player traced it to Guild Night Set layered armor with hair and eyebrows set to 0. They later said Capcom fixed it.

  1. Back up userdata\<your Steam ID>\2246340.

Not sure where the save folder is?

  2. Update the game first. A Capcom patch has likely already fixed this.

  3. Some players roll back with the Steam console command download_depot, but it often goes wrong. Read the source thread before you try it.

Unverified: Some players report that mods (REFramework) cause save corruption. Others dispute it.
