Where Enshrouded keeps your saves

Help me find my Enshrouded save folder on this PC, following findmysave's steps.

1. Read https://findmysave.com/enshrouded/save-location/steps.json. If you can't open URLs, use what's below.
2. Rules:
   - Start read-only: find my saves and list name, size and modified time.
   - Back up the whole save folder before changing anything.
   - Ask me before you delete, rename, move or overwrite any file (changes_files=true).

Find your Enshrouded save folder

Symptom

You don't know where the game keeps its save files.

  1. Press Win+R, paste C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata and press Enter. If Steam is installed somewhere else, find its location in Steam › Settings › Storage.

  2. Open the folder named with a number (for example 52345678). That's your Steam account ID. If there are several, open the most recently modified one.

  3. Open 1203620\remote.

    Check: You see save files in this folder.

  4. Look inside the folder to confirm it holds save files.

Can't find it?

If Windows can't find the folder, the game hasn't saved on this PC yet, or you play another version (Game Pass, Epic, Steam Deck). Check the other paths on this page.

Only `enshrouded_user.json` in the Saved Games folder

Symptom

You can't find your save files. The Saved Games folder only holds enshrouded_user.json.

  1. If Steam Cloud is on, open <Steam folder>\userdata\<your Steam ID>\1203620\remote. Steam may be on another drive.

  2. Look for files like 3ad85aea, 3ad85aea_info and characters.

    Check: You see those files.

  3. If Steam Cloud is off, open %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Enshrouded instead.

Where your save is depends on the Steam Cloud setting. Cloud on: <Steam folder>\userdata\<your Steam ID>\1203620\remote. Cloud off: %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Enshrouded.

This applies even to local single-player sessions, despite the folder name. Your Steam install path may not be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam.

Switching Steam Cloud changes which folder the game reads, so your worlds and characters can seem to vanish.

Dedicated server
<server root>\savegame\ (saveDirectory in enshrouded_server.json, default ./savegame)

The server stores the world. Characters stay on each player's PC, according to a hosting guide quoting Keen Games.
