Recover lost or deleted Enshrouded progress

Help me recover my lost Enshrouded save on this PC, following findmysave's steps.

1. Read https://findmysave.com/enshrouded/lost-save/steps.json. If you can't open URLs, use what's below.
2. Rules:
   - Start read-only: find my saves and list name, size and modified time.
   - Back up the whole save folder before changing anything.
   - Ask me before you delete, rename, move or overwrite any file (changes_files=true).
   - No anti-cheat files, no third-party tools unless I say yes.
   - Make sure the game is closed first.
3. Check with me that this is what happened, then do its steps in order and tell me how to check each one:

Game asks for a new character and your worlds are gone

Symptom

After going back to the game, it asks you to create a new character and your worlds and characters seem gone.

  1. In Steam, right-click Enshrouded › Properties › General. Check 'Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud'.

    Not sure where the save folder is?

  2. If it was turned off, turn it back on. The game reads a different folder depending on this setting. For the player who reported this, the saves came back.

    Check: Your worlds and characters show up again.

  3. If they're still missing, look for the world and character files in both %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Enshrouded and <Steam folder>\userdata\<your Steam ID>\1203620\remote.

Character missing on a dedicated server

Symptom

Your character is missing when you join a dedicated server.

  1. Join from the same PC and Steam account you used locally. Some hosting guides say characters are stored on the player's own PC, not on the server.

    Not sure where the save folder is?

  2. Make sure your Steam Cloud setting is the same as when you created the character.
