Recover lost or deleted Black Myth: Wukong progress

Help me recover my lost Black Myth: Wukong save on this PC, following findmysave's steps.

Game loads a save from days ago

Symptom

The game loads a save from days ago instead of your latest one, even though your achievements are intact. A Chinese-language Steam thread describes this.

Steps marked “changes files” delete, rename or overwrite something. Back up the whole save folder first.

  1. Open Steam\steamapps\common\BlackMythWukong\b1\Saved\SaveGamesBackup.

    Not sure where the save folder is?

  2. Choose a backup from the time you need: 01RealtimeBackup (instant), 02HourlyBackup (hourly) or 03DailyBackup (daily).

  3. Copy its files into the SaveGames\<your Steam ID> folder, overwriting the existing ones.changes files

    Check: Load the game. Your newer progress is back.

Steam cloud save reverted to the previous day

Symptom

Your cloud save went back to the day before. One player had beaten White Clad Noble and was sent back to before Black Wind King.

Steps marked “changes files” delete, rename or overwrite something. Back up the whole save folder first.

  1. Go to steamapps\common\BlackMythWukong\b1\Saved\SaveGamesBackup\01RealtimeBackup.

    Not sure where the save folder is?

  2. Find the backup dated at the progress point you want. Several players got 5 hours of progress back this way.

  3. Copy those files into b1\Saved\SaveGames\<your Steam ID> and relaunch the game.changes files

    Check: Load the slot. Your progress is back.

Save lost after a crash on GeForce Now or cloud streaming

Symptom

The game crashed while streaming (GeForce Now), the save is gone, and the local backup folder is empty.

Steps marked “changes files” delete, rename or overwrite something. Back up the whole save folder first.

  1. Know this first: streaming sessions keep files on the remote machine, so your local SaveGamesBackup will be empty and there is no local path to recover from.

  2. The only option in the thread: use a trusted shared save. Delete the bad files first, then drop the shared save into the SaveGames\<your Steam ID> folder, renamed to ArchiveSaveFile.1.sav.changes files

Unverified: This comes from one player thread, and it only gets you someone else's save, not your own progress back. Back up the folder before you delete anything.
